惠函敬悉。但我并不同意于先生的谦虚的提议，因为我对于自己的传记以及批评之类，不大热心，而且回忆和商量起来，也觉得乏味。文章，是总不免有错误或偏见的，即使叫我自己做起对自己的批评来，大约也不免有错误，何况经历全不相同的别人。但我以为这其实还比小心翼翼，再三改得稳当了的好。
我近来不过生了一点痱子，不能算病，如果报上说是生了别的病，那是新闻记者的创作了，这种创作，报上是常有的。蒙念并闻。
