惠函奉到。现在的读书界，确是比较的退步，但出版界也不大能出好书。上海有官立的书报审查处，凡较好的作品，一定不准出版，所以出版界都是死气沈沈。
杂志上也很难说话，现惟《太白》，《读书生活》，《新生》三种，尚可观，而被压迫也最甚。至于《人间世》之类，则本是麻醉品，其流行亦意中事，与中国人之好吸雅片相同也。
我的近作三本，已托书店挂号寄上。至于先生所要的两本，当托友人去打听，倘有，当邮寄。
